Feeding your soul

Range by David Epstein. This book came up on a reading list somewhere I'm not exactly sure. I was also inquisitive as to how generalists could hold value in today's day and age. I had begun to say my downfall was my jack-of-all-trades nature, and this book flipped my thoughts on their head. Why is this relevant? I've been mildly interested in photography for years, but I've never taken it seriously because it didn't fit into my prescribed career. I just took photos because…why not? After reading Range, I vowed to try things, make mistakes, and adapt.

This philosophy went against everything I've ever known, but 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, "Walk by faith and not by sight." During this same time, I received multiple signs supporting this verse. My barber told me to do it…solve the problems later. In addition, my barber, during a conversation with a good friend of mine, commented, "Don't create problems that don't exist"….The writing was on the wall, and I took the dive.

Immediately after all of these things transpired, I looked back through all of my old photos, and that was when it set in. I ENJOY PHOTOGRAPHY…Chase the dream! Now that the dust has settled, my takeaways are...TRY, TRY, TRY. Also, remember that success causes long-term failure. Toleration of big mistakes can help foster more learning. Struggling through VARIED scenarios is the key. Be clear, be confident, and don't overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it will continue to evolve, and you can evolve with it.
